I just wish to extend my thanks to all that participated in our George Curry Tournament and the Toronto GAA tournament at Centennial Park. It was amazing to see so many kids playing our game and enjoying it!

On Saturday last we played our first game as 'Durham Shamrocks' in our new playing kit and they all played excellent.

Incase you don't already know we have set the dates for the Outdoor Gaelic Football:

  • Saturday June 14th @ 10am - 11.30am
  • Saturday June 21st @ 10am - 11.30am
  • Saturday June 28th @ 10am - 11.30am
  • Saturday July 5th  @  9am - 10.30am

You can register online. It will be held at Denis O'Connor Park in Ajax at a cost of $40 per child and $20 thereafter for each child in the same family.

Also coming are the Continental Youth Championships on July 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th in Philadelphia. We hope to have a 'Durham Shamrocks' team available to travel to this tournament to represent the GAA in Canada. Teams from cities all over the United States will be competing for the coveted Continental Youth Cups. Kids of all ages are welcome to participate.

The CYC will kick off with a parade which marches through the center of town at 1pm on Thursday 24th with the games then being played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will launch some fundraising initiatives so we can bring the cost to a minumium for all parents and players travelling.

Please indicate your interest to the coaches or administration team and we will be giving you more details on travel arrangements etc soon.

Thanks
Lorraine White
Youth Development Officer

On Saturday, May 24th, there will be a kids’ tournament held at Centennial Park, Etobicoke. This tournament will involve players from Toronto, Durham, Brampton and Ottawa. It will be a special weekend as the President of the GAA in Ireland will be present, so it will give you an opportunity to showoff your skills and how great Gaelic Football is in Canada!

Preliminary tournament rounds will be played with the semi-finals and final. Food will be provided on the day. Afterwards, there will be an awards presentation held in Brampton Irish Centre with any proceeds raised going to the Continental Youth Championships fund.

It won’t be too long after that then we will be back with our Outdoor Program! It will begin in June and run for five weeks which will lead up to the Continental Youth Championships in July.
