We're singing in, gaelicing in the RAIN!

Now that we have had a day to dry off and warm up I truly hope that all the mothers out there had a great Mothers Day!

Saturday at the George Curry Tournament I witnessed the Durham Shamrocks at their finest! As mother nature was determined to show us her wrath, the Durham Shamrocks were committed to sheer will and determination. Once again this incredible group of Coaches, Players Parents and supporters showed up to enjoy of day of football. As Toronto was also up for the challenge we together enjoyed a very fun filled day of sport and enthusiasm.

As the weather allowed, the teams were fearlessly competing in the wettest sloppiest game of Gaelic ever witnessed in Durham. Throughout various breaks to allow the thunder and lightning to pass by, many other activities helped keep the spirit going.

Our Parent Council was busy selling baked goods and raffling off many prizes. We even had help from some wonderful young ladies who watched over the sweet table and tried to stay dry and warm.

We had the finest young chefs minding the BBQ and there was not a complaint to be heard! (Take that Chef Ramsey!)

In the end Mother Nature won the game but not the spirit of the kids, coaches and parents.

Together Durham and Toronto shared some pure fun through a game of Tug-o-War. The smiles and laughter were true comfort against the cold. There was a longest kick challenge among the parents, what an entertaining event! The Kids truly loved this!!

We Thank Toronto for coming out and sharing a wonderfully crazy day!
We Thank our Shamrocks for continuing to show true Team Spirit!!
We Thank the Parents and volunteers for the complete devotion!!!
We Thank our Coaches, Trainers and Supporters for without them all this would not be Possible!!!!

Our next outing will be on May 30th at Centennial Park in Etobicoke. An amazing line up for the day as the President of the GAA in Ireland along with one of the best GAA players ever, Peter Canavan, will be present. As the rain had cut short our George Curry tournament we will resume on this day to compete for the George Curry Trophies against Toronto, Brampton and Ottawa. Surely a great day to take the George Curry Trophy home in front of the President!

After that we will be going to Ottawa on June 6th to participate in a tournament, may there be some sunshine! Anyone needing information regarding Ottawa please contact us.

One more reminder, our outdoor session begins soon, anyone still wanting to register can do so by clicking Registration 2009 on the left hand side or contact a coach.

This a great opportunity to introduce Gaelic Football to anyone who may have never heard of it before.

As I have stated before WELL DONE SHAMROCKS!!!!!

See you all soon,
Karrie-Ann Knox
