All CYC Attendees

The 2009 CYC Host Committee would like to welcome you all in advance to San Francisco.  We are very excited to be your host city for the 2009 CYC Tournament.  The following is provided to assist you as you make your travel arrangements to San Francisco for the Tournament.

AIRPORTS
There are two local airports: San Francisco International (SFO) or Oakland International (OAK).  Both are located about the same distance from downtown San Francisco.

TRANSPORT FROM THE AIRPORT TO OFFICIAL HOTELS
BART is the local rapid transit system and directly services SFO from the International Terminal, Level 3. Cost is $5.35 one-way per person and the trip takes approx 30 mins. Children under 4 are free, all others must have a ticket purchased from the vending machines prior to boarding the train.

OAK is serviced by a shuttle bus to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station and then BART to downtown San Francisco.  The shuttle pickup (departs approx every 10 mins) is located between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and costs $3.00 for adults, $1.00 for children 12 and under.  The BART ticket from this station to the hotel will cost $3.55 and will take about 30 mins.

BART will take you within a short distance of both Official Hotels.

Taxi’s to the downtown San Francisco hotels are also available from both airports (approx prices: $45 from SFO, $60 from OAK).

SuperShuttle costs approx $17 per person from SFO and $27 from OAK to the downtown San Francisco hotels. (Children under 3 ride free on SuperShuttle.)

EVENT TRANSPORTATION
Transportation to and from the two Official Hotels ONLY and the playing fields on Treasure Island will be provided by the host city.

CAR RENTAL
We do not recommend that you rent a car during the course of the Tournament.
WHY?
(1) Transport will be provided to and from the games.
(2) It is expensive to park your car overnight in downtown San Francisco.
(3) Taxis are readily available.
(4) Restaurants, bars, cinemas, tourist attractions and shopping, etc. are all within walking distance of the two Official Hotels.

EVENT VENUE
The games will take place on Treasure Island (a man-made island about 15 mins from the two Official Hotels).  Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at the venue.

WEATHER
Surrounded by water on three sides, San Francisco is known for its Mediterranean and moderate climate.  If there is fog around, the temperatures tend to drop and it can feel a little chilly.  You should anticipate average temps of 70 degrees (cooler in the evenings).  Be prepared - bring something warm just in case. We guarantee No Rain.

PARADE
The Parade will take place Treasure Island on Thursday, July 30th at 6.30pm.  It will commence on Avenue of the Palms which is located on the waterfront with spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline. Following a ¼ mile walk the Parade will head down California Drive for another ¼ mile and conclude at Pairc na n’Og.

REGISTRATION
Registration will take place immediately following the Parade at Pairc na n’Og on Thursday evening.  Tents will be set up to accommodate the Registration process.  Food and beverages will be available and local artists will provide entertainment at this time.
