The Durham Emmets Gaelic Football Club is a non-for-profit organization operating in the Durham region to give area youth the opportunity to learn, play, and LOVE this wonderful Irish sport, Gaelic Football. We know that when children progress through our organization they not only learn about Gaelic football but gain true self confidence. Our Minor team are Durham Shamrocks.

In order to be successful in its goals the club is looking for financial support from individuals and businesses to cover costs such as purchasing equipment, pitch rental, awards, organizing Gaelic football tournaments and to send kids to participate in tournaments with the big one being the Continental Youth Championships in San Francisco in 2009.

The Continental Youth Championship (CYC) is an annual weekend tournament of Gaelic football and Hurling organized by the Gaelic Athletic Association in Ireland. It is contested by teams from the Ireland, England, USA and Canada. Our club was able to send eight kids to the tournament last year along with kids from Brampton and Toronto, but we hope to send our own Durham Shamrocks team this year for 2009. The CYC began in 2004, and its location rotates around various cities from year to year. The age of players ranges from Under 8 to Under 18. http://cyc.gaa.ie

Our Gaelic Football for Kids Fall program is currently underway and will run until April 2009. We currently have seventy kids enrolled in our program ranging in ages from 5-18. We play once a week on a Tuesday night and occasionally games on Saturday. We host more tournaments / games and training during the Spring and Summer, with competing players from surrounding clubs in Brampton, Toronto and Ottawa.

In order to succeed in our endeavour to make Gaelic football a well known sport in Toronto, we are hoping to develop long-term relationships with companies interested in supporting the Durham Shamrocks. In return for their support, the club would recognize our sponsors on our webpage, event flyers and emails and distributing promotional materials during events.

We greatly appreciate your consideration of donating to our organization. With your help, we will continue to improve our organization and continue to give area youth an opportunity that may not otherwise be made available to them. Donations to community organizations, such as ours, demonstrate your support and dedication to the community and area youth athletics.

Making a donation is easy! Simply fill out our donation form and send it in with your payment to Durham GFC, c/o Lorraine White, 25 Regatta Crescent, Whitby, ON L1N 9V2.
